Volunteers are the lifeblood of the British Red Cross. Our volunteers save and change lives, raise vital funds and run our shops. Without them, we simply would not be able to deliver our services, which help hundreds of thousands of people in crisis every year. Anyone can volunteer. It doesn’t matter what your skills, experience or background are, or how much time you have to give. Even if you only have a couple of hours a week to spare, there will be something to suit you – from first aid to fundraising, care in the home to emergency response. I guess this sort of gives away Chris’s political allegiances! 2010 will see what many are predicting will be an upheaval of the political balance which has not been seen post WWII. With support for the Tory and Labour parties all over the place, unclear policies and direction, leadership which is doing anything but lead, 2010 is the year in which the electorate can make their voices heard! The Liberal Democrat Party is the one party which can truly make a difference. Take a few moments and look at the track record of the LibDem councils in the UK and see how well they are performing and then compare them to the Tory flagship council of the City of Westminster and you will get an idea. Arriva is one of the largest transport services organisations in Europe, employing more than 40,000 people and delivering more than one billion passenger journeys across 12 European countries every year. I (Chris) work for Arriva London at one of their North London garages as a Garage Supervisor. LBC was the UK’s first commercial radio station to receive its operating licence way back in the early part of the 1970’s. London’s leading talk station broadcasting on FM, DAB, SKY and via the internet, ‘London’s Best Conversation’ sums up the station well. With the likes of Nick Ferrari, James O’Brien, Steve Allen, Clive Bull, Londons’ former Mayor, Ken Livingstone and the most recent addition, James Whale (who lost his job on Talk Sport due to his anti-Ken position) as well as many more award winning broadcasters, once you find LBC on your radio dial, it is unlikely you will ever return to whatever it was you where listening to before! Try it out – I am sure you will like it. And listen out for me – I go under the caller name of Chris from Edgware Road.. Their telephone number is 0845 6060 973 and text on 84850.
